Breaking Indecision in Multiagent, Multioption Dynamics

چکیده

How does a group of agents break indecision when deciding about options with qualities that are hard to distinguish? Biological and artificial multiagent systems, from honeybees bird flocks bacteria, robots, humans, often need overcome choosing among in situations which the performance or even survival is at stake. Breaking also important because fully indecisive state, where not biased toward any specific option, agent maximally sensitive prone adapt inputs changes its environment. Here, we develop mathematical theory study how decisions arise breaking indecision. Our approach grounded both equivariant network bifurcation theory. We model decision as synchrony-breaking influence networks each node value assigned by an option. First, show three universal behaviors, namely, deadlock, consensus, dissensus, generic outcomes bifurcations synchronous state networks. Second, all deadlock consensus patterns some dissensus predicted symmetry Third, there many “exotic” patterns. These architecture but symmetries through new branching lemma. This first example exotic solutions application. Numerical simulations novel illustrate our theoretical results.

Budget-Constrained Dynamics in Multiagent Systems

The paper introduces a notion of a budgetconstrained multiagent transition system that associates two financial parameters with each transition: a pre-transition minimal budget requirement and a post-transition profit. The paper proposes a new modal language for reasoning about such a system. The language uses a modality labeled by agent as well as by budget and profit constraints. The main tec...

Indecision on decisional separability.

The theoretical framework of General Recognition Theory (GRT; Ashby & Townsend, Psychological Review, 93, 154-179, 1986) coupled with the empirical analysis tools of Multidimensional Signal Detection Analysis (MSDA; Kadlec & Townsend, Multidimensional models of perception and recognition, pp. 181-228, 1992) have become one important method for assessing dimensional interactions in perceptual de...

Vagueness as Indecision

This paper motivates and explores an expressivist theory of vagueness, modeled on Allan Gibbard’s (2003) normative expressivism. It shows how Chris Kennedy’s (2007) semantics for gradable adjectives can be adjusted to fit into a theory on Gibbardian lines, where assertions constrain not just possible worlds but plans for action. Vagueness, on this account, is literally indecision about where to...

Robust Consensus for Continuous-Time Multiagent Dynamics

This paper investigates consensus problems for continuous-time multiagent systems with time-varying communication graphs subject to input noise. Based on input-to-state stability and integral input-to-state stability, robust consensus and integral robust consensus are defined with respect to L∞ and L1 norms of the noise function, respectively. Sufficient and/or necessary connectivity conditions...

Runaway Dynamics and Supersymmetry Breaking

Supersymmetric SU(NC) gauge theories possess runaway-type superpotentials for NF < NC , where NF is the flavor number of massless quarks. We show that the runaway behavior can be stabilized for NF ≃ NC by introducing singlets with the aid of perturbative corrections to the Kähler potential, generating (local) minima of supersymmetry breaking.
